Since joining Vertex in 2015, Mr. Ben Mathias has made several investments in the areas of Consumer Internet, Fintech and Enterprise Technology. Ben currently sits on the boards of FirstCry, Cloudcherry, Housejoy, Hotelogix, Ace Turtle, Flutura, Synup, Active AI and Licious. He also has overall responsibility for the firm’s investments in India.
Prior to Vertex, Ben was a partner at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) where he launched their India presence and opened their Bangalore office. While at NEA, he led several investments in the Technology and Healthcare sectors.
Prior to joining NEA, Ben had a successful software career in Silicon Valley where he held senior positions at E2open and i2 Technologies. Previously, Ben spent a number of years at PwC Consulting (acquired by IBM) as member of their retail consulting practice. In his early career, he was at Open Environment Corporation and built application development tools for Distributed Computing.

In addition, had experience in launching and marketing the products and services of the US headquarters for the Japanese market. In 2007 joined Japan ATM Co., Ltd. was responsible for driving sales and market expansion of ATM solutions and outsourcing services for mega banks, regional banks and retail banks. As one of the founding members of the company's overseas business division, drove the strategy to enter the Chinese market and conducted market entry to the Indonesian market. Has been in his current position since February 2021.

Alvin Yuan has been in the healthcare industry began in the medical insurance and healthcare management industry. Graduating with a Master’s Degree in Pharmacy, he started his career in Integrated Healthcare Management (Managed Care Organisation) and went on to become the Director of Business Development and managed the group’s panel of clinics and healthcare centres. He started his entrepreneurial journey by talking to different stakeholders; (e.g. insurance providers, hospitals, clinics, corporates etc.) to understand the gaps in the healthcare ecosystem. It was then he discovered that there is no current solution that enables companies to manage employee health benefits efficiently. He co-founded HealthMetrics in 2015.
