Announcing the opening of “DISG” website
AMEICC is proud to announce the opening of the website for “Dialogue for Innovative and Sustainable Growth (DISG)”, which was endorsed by ASEAN and Japan Economic Minister (AEM-METI) at the 26th AEM - METI Consultation on August 28. DISG is comprised of a series of webinars to facilitate discussion on specific themes among experts from private, academic and public sectors in ASEAN and Japan. AMEICC Secretariat serve to this new dialogue as Secretariat.

The Ministers welcomed the Work Programme for steady implementation of MIDV2.0
The Ministers welcomed the Work Programme for steady implementation of Mekong Industrial Development Vision 2.0 (MIDV2.0) at the 12th Mekong - Japan Economic Ministers Meeting on 27th August 2020. The Meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment, Viet Nam, and H.E. Hiroshi Kajiyama, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan. It was attended by Economic Ministers and Representatives from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Thailand as well as the Secretary-General of ASEAN, business representatives from Mekong countries and Japan.
Regardless of recent economic disruptions caused by Covid-19 outbreak, the Ministers noted the vision of MIDV2.0, highlighted by three main pillars of Connectivity, Digital Innovations and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), continues to be the solution for balanced development of the Mekong region and would contribute to transforming to a more resilient economy. The Ministers reaffirmed the necessity to further enhance connectivity within Mekong sub-region through the realization of MIDV2.0, bearing in mind the needs and priorities of the region.
The Work Programme includes East-West Economic Corridor and Southern Economic Corridor improvement project in Connectivity, collaboration project between Mekong and Japanese companies in Digital Innovation, and cooperation for human resource development in pollution management in SDGs.

The Ministers adopted the “Mekong Industrial Development Vision 2.0” (MIDV2.0)
“Mekong Industrial Development Vision 2.0” (MIDV2.0) was adopted at the 11th Mekong - Japan Economic Ministers Meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand on 10th September 2019. The Meeting was co-chaired by Minister of Transport, Thailand, and Vice-Minister for International Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Japan. It was also attended by Economic Ministers and representatives from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam as well as the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), business representatives from Mekong countries and Japan.
At the Meeting, the Ministers reaffirmed the necessity to further enhance connectivity within Mekong sub region through the development of the MIDV2.0, bearing in mind the needs and priorities of the region. Support for ASEAN MSMEs’ Digitalization
AMEICC have supported the overall goal of positioning ASEAN as a region of seamless business activities and opportunities towards accomplishment of SAP-SMED. In that context, AMEICC supported the provision of “Future of ASEAN 50 Success Stories of Digitalization of ASEAN MSMEs” so that ASEAN MSMEs could get to enhance the competitiveness through adoption of digital technologies, partnered with ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN countries.

30/8/2018AMEICC 20th AnniversaryAMEICC marks the 20th anniversary of its establishment in 2018. In conjunction with the economic environment surrounding ASEAN and ASEAN’s continuing and increasing needs, the AMEICC’s role and cooperative activities have roughly changed, whereas the AMEICC’s mission has been consistently to act as a “catalyst” for ASEAN development through discussions with multiple stakeholders including ASEAN member states at all levels, and dealing with ASEAN’s challenges. Booklet and Video introduce AMEICC's activities and deepening of the relationships between ASEAN and Japan so far.
