In this session, JETRO provided an overview of the history of expanding trade and investment between Japan and ASEAN, with a focus on the economic growth of ASEAN countries. JETRO emphasized the importance of collaboration between Japan and ASEAN in generating innovation and driving sustainable societies and economies. Subsequently, JETRO’s Singapore office presented the latest trends and future prospects of ASEAN, highlighting the economic progress and transformations across the entire ASEAN region. The panel discussion, led by the directors of JETRO’s offices in Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, enthusiastically delved into the roles each country plays as production hubs, consumer markets, and innovation centers. The unique economic environments and industry perspectives of each country were vividly portrayed. This discussion centered on the outlook for economic growth in the ASEAN region and the collaborative prospects with Japan, providing a valuable opportunity to contemplate the direction toward achieving a sustainable economy and society.
