SUMMARY
In the next session, following Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Nishimura’s presentation, young business leaders from Japan and ASEAN shared their expectations for the upcoming Japan-ASEAN Young Business Leaders Summit scheduled for this December. In the opening keynote speech, there was an emphasis on strengthening the partnership built on trust and addressing societal challenges through innovation, including climate change, aging populations, circular economy, diversity, and inclusion. The speaker highlighted the anticipation of specific actions by each country to tackle their respective challenges.
During subsequent discussions, given the rapid evolution of Japan-ASEAN relations, the importance of networking among next-generation leaders to foster solutions to social issues and generate new business opportunities was underscored. Leveraging Japan’s strengths, such as quality and perfectionism, along with ASEAN’s advantages, like tech-savvy youth and diversity, and the shared “craftsmanship culture that values quality over quantity,” as stated by Aldi from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, further collaboration was anticipated.
Throughout this session, it was confirmed that the Japan-ASEAN Young Business Leaders Summit will serve as a significant platform for leaders from both regions to collectively progress towards the future and drive sustainable transformations.
