The 1st ASEAN-Japan SME Finance Round-Table
ASEAN and Japan had the 1st ASEAN-Japan SME Finance Round-Table in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 4th November 2015 hosted and supported by AMEICC and ASEC in line with ASEAN SME Agencies Working Group and related meetings (ASEAN SME WG Meetings).
The meeting was also attended by ASEAN SME-WG members, WC-FINC members, and experts from international organizations, SME Agency Japan, and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Japan, as well as relevant organizations in AMSs.
In line with the “Increase Access to Finance” pillar under the “ASEAN Strategic Action Plan for the SME development 2016-2025”, the International Organizations ( e.g. ADB, ERIA, OECD, and World Bank) shared the meeting on the current situation of SME financing from the standpoints of access to loans, access to capital markets, SME finance policies, and the best practices etc.  
Furthermore, emphasizing the significance of credit guarantee systems and credit risk database, Japan shared the concept of the “Domestic and Asia Region-wide SME credit guarantee system” to enhance AMSs’ access to finance in each economy and cross-border finance in ASEAN.
Based on these presentations, the meeting discussed and shared the current situation on the credit guarantee system in each AMSs, exchanging views on challenges, required actions, and future possible plans.

Ministers and Representatives from Mekong - Japan

7th Mekong Japan Economic Ministers Meeting ( Kuala Lumpur, 24 Aug 2015)
7th Mekong Japan Economic Ministers Meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur on 24th Aug 2015. The meeting was attended by Ministers and Representatives from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam, Japan as well as from ASEC, ERIA, JETRO, and Business Sector.
Welcoming the steady progress in hard infrastructure development, trade facilitation, growth of trade and investment in Mekong sub-reigon thus far, the Ministers adopted the Mekong Industrial Development Vision, which is to be the medium and long term economic cooperation framework between Mekong countries and Japan for 2015 - 2020.

Special Seminar on ASEAN Automobile Industry (Siem Reap, 3 Aug 2015)
At the 16th AMEICC Working Group on Automobile Industry (WG-AI), High level Special Seminar was co-hosted by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Associations (JAMA) and AMEICC Secretariat on 3rd Aug 2015 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

At the seminar, Mr. Fumihiko Ike, Chairman of JAMA stressed the potential of ASEAN market, sharing the expectations and challenges towards the fomulation of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

Mr. Toshihide Kasutani, Director General, Manufacturing Industries Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan stressed the significant initiatives to be addressed in ASEAN ( i.e. Safety Regulations, Environmental Standards, and Human Resource Development (HRD)), proposing the cooperation towards the HRD in automobile industry in ASAEN.

H.E. Heng Sokkung, Secretary of State, Ministry of Industry and Handicraft, Cambodia appreciated Japan's cooperation so far, sharing the clear vision to transform Cambodian industrial structure from labor-intensive to skill-based one.

Prospective represetatives from ASAEN countries shared and discussed the expectations, challenges, and countermesures to be taken towards the AEC.
